Introduction
A jewellery ecommerce website for a Jaipur business sells when it does three jobs well: it proves each piece is genuine, it shows the piece clearly enough that someone will buy without touching it, and it makes the price easy to understand. Get those right and the rest of the store, from checkout to shipping, becomes far easier to build. Get them wrong and even beautiful kundan, polki or silver work sits in the cart and never gets paid for.
This guide walks through what we put on jewellery stores before launch: hallmark and certificate details, product media, price display, checkout for high-value orders and selling abroad. We build for Jaipur jewellers remotely from our offices in Lucknow and Mumbai, so everything here is about the website itself, not about a local showroom.
Why is jewellery harder to sell online than clothing?
A buyer can guess how a kurta will fit. With jewellery the doubts are bigger and more expensive: is the metal what you say it is, are the stones natural, how big is it really, and why does the same design cost more this week than last? Each doubt needs an answer on the product page itself, because most shoppers will not message you to ask. They will simply leave.
That is why a jewellery store needs more structure than a general fashion template gives you. Every product should carry the same set of facts in the same place: metal and purity, weight, stone details, size, certificate and returns. When those fields are fixed in the product setup, your team cannot forget them while adding a new collection.
Put hallmarking and certificates on every product page
Trust is the first thing to build. The Bureau of Indian Standards says on its hallmarking FAQ for consumers that a customer can check a HUID number in the BIS CARE app using the "Verify HUID" feature and see details of the jeweller's registration. The same page says a hallmark stays valid for the lifetime of the jewellery, and that complaints can be filed through the BIS CARE app or the BIS website.
Use that on your store. In practice we suggest:
- A purity and hallmark field on every hallmarked piece, shown near the price, not hidden in a tab.
- A short "How to verify your jewellery" page that explains the HUID check in the BIS CARE app, linked from each product page and from the order confirmation email.
- Stone certificates as downloadable files where a lab report exists, with the report number on the page.
- Clear wording for what is not hallmarked, such as fashion or gold-plated pieces, so nobody feels misled later.
Which items need hallmarking, and where, is set by BIS through its Mandatory Hallmarking Order and its amendments, so confirm your own products against the BIS pages before you write product copy. The website's job is to display what you are certified for, accurately and consistently.
Show the piece the way a buyer would inspect it
Photos do the work of the showroom counter. For each piece we plan at least a clean front shot on a plain background, a side or angle shot that shows depth, a close-up of stone setting or meenakari work, a photo on a hand, ear or neck for scale, and a short video under natural light. Add the dimensions in millimetres and the weight in grams next to the images, so buyers are not surprised by the size when the parcel arrives.
Google's own guidance points the same way. Its merchant listing documentation prefers pictures that clearly show the product, for example against a white background, and recommends several high-resolution images (at least 50,000 pixels when width is multiplied by height) in 16x9, 4x3 and 1x1 ratios. If you have 3D models of your designs, the same documentation explains how to link a glTF model to the product.
Keep the photos light enough to load quickly on a phone. Large image files slow a store down, so we compress and resize every image during upload rather than relying on the person adding products.
How should a jewellery store show prices that change?
Gold and silver prices move. If you price by weight plus making charges and your website shows a single fixed number that someone updates by hand, it will be wrong at some point, and a wrong price on a high-value item is costly either way.
There are two sensible approaches:
- Calculated prices. Each product stores its metal weight, purity, making charge and stone value, and the store calculates the price from a metal rate your team updates. This suits gold and diamond jewellery sold in volume.
- Fixed prices with scheduled reviews. Silver, fashion and gemstone pieces often sell at a set price that you revise on a timetable. This keeps the store simpler and is usually enough.
Whichever you choose, show a price breakdown on the product page: metal value, making charges, stone value and taxes as separate lines. Buyers compare jewellers line by line, and a transparent breakdown answers the question before it is asked. For bespoke work, replace the price with a clear "request a quote" flow that collects the design, metal, size and occasion date.
Which store setup fits your type of jewellery?
Not every Jaipur jeweller needs the same store. The type of product decides what the product page and checkout must handle.
| Business type | What the product page must show | How customers usually buy |
|---|---|---|
| Silver and gemstone jewellery | Purity, weight, stone names, size options, care guide | Direct checkout with cards and UPI |
| Gold, diamond and polki | Hallmark details, price breakdown, certificate, exact weight | Checkout, often after a call or WhatsApp chat |
| Bespoke and made to order | Design options, timelines, past work, process | Quote request, then a payment link |
| Export and wholesale | Minimum quantities, catalogues, shipping countries | Enquiry form or trade login |
Many Jaipur businesses fall into two rows at once, for example retail silver plus bespoke bridal sets. Plan both flows from the start rather than bolting a quote form onto a retail theme later. If you are still choosing a platform, we compare the two we build on most in WooCommerce or Shopify for Indian stores.

Make checkout feel safe for high-value orders
Higher order values change buyer behaviour. People want reassurance before they pay, so put a WhatsApp or call button on the product page itself, show your returns and exchange policy beside the "Buy" button, and explain how the parcel is packed, insured and tracked. Some buyers will still want to see the piece on a video call first, and that is worth offering.
Choose a payment gateway that supports the methods your customers use and handles refunds cleanly. Our guide to WooCommerce payment gateways in India compares the official plugins on payment methods, refunds and setup requirements. Test a full order and a refund before launch.
Selling Jaipur jewellery to customers abroad
If you sell to customers outside India, your website is usually the first thing they see of your business. A few details make a real difference:
- Currency. Google's merchant listing documentation says that when you sell in more than one currency, each currency should have its own distinct URL. Plan this before launch, because it is awkward to change later.
- Shipping and returns information. Show which countries you ship to and how international returns work. Google lets you describe shipping and return policies in structured data or in Merchant Center, so keep one accurate version and reuse it.
- Sizing. Add a ring size guide that converts between Indian and international sizes, and state the sizes in the product title or options.
Help Google understand each piece
Product structured data tells Google what a page sells. According to Google's documentation, product markup can make a page eligible for merchant listing experiences such as Google Images and product snippets, and it includes a material property for the metal, which suits jewellery well. Google also recommends putting product markup in the initial HTML rather than generating it later with JavaScript.
Two cautions. Google says it does not guarantee that structured data will lead to rich results, so treat markup as correct housekeeping rather than a shortcut. And keep the markup honest: the price, availability and material in the code must match what the page shows.

Frequently asked questions
Can customers verify hallmarked jewellery bought from my website?
Yes. BIS says customers can enter the HUID number in the BIS CARE app using "Verify HUID" to see the jeweller's registration details. Showing the HUID on the invoice and explaining the check on your site turns a regulation into a selling point.
Should I show prices or ask customers to enquire?
Show prices wherever you can, with a breakdown of metal, making charges, stones and taxes. Use enquiry-only pages for bespoke work, where the price genuinely depends on the design. Hiding every price makes buyers do extra work before they can even shortlist you.
What photos does a jewellery product page need?
A clean front shot, an angle shot, a close-up of the details, a photo worn for scale and ideally a short video. Add dimensions and weight beside the images so buyers can judge the size.
Do you need to be in Jaipur to build my store?
No. Our offices are in Lucknow and Mumbai, and we run Jaipur projects remotely over WhatsApp and video calls. You send products, photos and policies, and we handle the build, testing and launch.
Conclusion
A Jaipur jewellery store that sells is built on proof and clarity: hallmark and certificate details on every page, photos that answer the size and quality questions, a price buyers can understand and a checkout that feels safe for a high-value order.
